چکیده

The emissions control regulations introduced by governments are set to improve engine quality and reduce the impact automobiles have on planet. imposed manufactures proven very difficult meet. To this effect some of leading names in industry were pushed invest significant funding research, development optimisation combustion, powertrain tribology inside ICE. Their goal is reduction fuel consumption while increasing performance durability. piston-ring cylinder-liner interaction major source frictional losses for reciprocating ICEs so, it important avoid any failure piston-rings effectively lubricant transport from sump onto cylinder walls further combustion chamber. This will participate through absorption desorption oil film at walls, also resulting contamination consumption. objective project assist with investigation phenomena occurring liner under different operating conditions. following investigations been carried out, flow cavitation visualisation a model rig newly designed optical engine.

Conservative one-dimensional finite volume discretization of a new cavitation model for piston–ring lubrication

This paper presents a conservative numerical implementation of a new cavitation model that is well suited for lubrication problems with cavitated regions in which the fluid film is attached to just one of the participating surfaces, as happens for instance in piston–ring assemblies. This new model was recently proposed by Buscaglia et al. (2011) and is the first successful attempt at modifying ...

Cavitation induced starvation for piston-ring/liner tribological conjunction

The study investigates the mechanism of ring-liner lubrication in the vicinity of the top and bottom dead centres of an internal combustion engine. Predicting lubricant transient behaviour is critical when the inlet reversal leads to thin films and inherent metal-to-metal interaction. It was found that the cavitation, which is located at the trailing edge of the contact before reversal, briefly...

Piston Ring Friction Analysis from Oil Film Thickness Measurements by

The oil film behavior of a series of fifteen lubricating oils was tested in a single cylinder spark ignition engine. The oil film thickness between the piston and cylinder liner of this engine was observed using the Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF) technique. The data was examined for correlations between physical properties of the oil and characteristics of the oil film. The region of the oil ...
